Cattle Crawl promotes beef Lauren Hollister Sidney Herald Cattle Crawl, what comes to mind is a bunch of cows doing an army crawl through barbed wire fences. Amusing as that mental image may be, the reality is far better (and tastier). Cattle Crawl is an event put together by the Mondak Area Stockgrower's Association to promote beef and local restaurants. The goal of this event is to bring urban consumers together with producers, showcase beef while allowing consumers to visit with producers all while enjoying fabulous atmosphere and some incredible beef recipes. This event will showcase the variety and taste beef can add to any meal at anybody's table. The event is being held on Sunday, July 13 at 4 p.m. Ticket-holders will meet at the South 40 restaurant here in Sidney. There they will be served a salad with a beef entr/e and wine. Everyone will then be transported by bus to Fairview to the Double Barrel Saloon. In Fairview, participants will have a featured beef item and wine sample. The next destination of the Cattle Crawl is the Outlaws Bar and Grill in Watford City, ND. Again, everyone will receive a featured beef dish and wine. The tour will end in Sidney at the Cattle-ac where participants will be treated to dessert and wine. One of the organizers of the event, Laura Schieber, says that they will all be small meals and not regular sized ones. The tour is intended to be a sample of what the Mondak region has to offer. At the end of the tour everyone will receive a commemorative wine glass. Tickets for the Cattle Crawl are $50 and will be available at several locations in Sidney. Some of the sponsors for the event include Big Sky Veterinary Clinic, Busch Agricultural Resources Inc., Hovde Veterinary Clinic, R&J Ag Supply, M3 Meats, 1st Bank, Stockman Bank and Farm Credit Services. The Stockgrowers Association plans on holding another event similar to this one next year. The idea for having the Cattle Crawl came from the Montana Stockgrower's Association in Billings, which will hold a similar event in September. For more information about the Cattle Crawl or if you have any questions contact Laura Schieber at 433-2403 or Marci Albin at 489-0633. features@sidneyherald.com |
